<itunes:summary>Located about 45 minutes north of downtown Memphis, True Life Church in Munford/Atoka, Tennessee is a small, contemporary yet conservative Southern Baptist congregation with a heart for serving Christ. After years of bouncing between living rooms and local community centers, True Life now has a permanent home with a bright blue roof right on Highway 51. During this time, God has used this small group of followers to change the lives of countless individuals and has helped rebuild and grow families through the preaching and teaching of the Gospel. Now that same teaching and preaching has found a whole new life here after years of collecting dust in our sanctuary sound booth. It is our hope that the lively, engaging, and often humorous teachings of Pastor Mark Ham blesses and changes your life as much as it has ours</itunes:summary>

Slavery in America has a very negative, very nasty reputation, and for good reason. The American slave trade as we know it from history was a notoriously evil thing. It seems to be a very foreign concept in contemporary times because we have all but abolished it. Yes, it still exists and probably always will. But by and large, it is no longer a part of every day life for most of the civilized world.

But it has not always been this way. The reason slavery is used so often as an analogy or in parables in the Bible is that it was very much understood by everyone because it was so much a part of culture and everyday life. Not so today. As the saying goes, much is lost in the translation. To say that we are to be bond-servants to Christ, slaves, carries a very negative, perhaps even evil connotation because “freedom” is so core to modern culture. This is tragic, and so crippling to the modern Church because this concept is so essential to the full, joyous Christian life.

Please join us as Pastor Mark Ham begins a new series and digs deep into what it truly means to be a slave to Christ.

1 out of 10 people have some kind of phobia, or an irrational fear of something. Fear is perhaps our greatest enemy. It holds us in slavery, it binds us in captivity preventing us from doing what God has called us to do. It discourages us and brings us down. God did not intend for us to live in fear, but to have a spirit of hope. This message explains how we can overcome those fears and live in peace and hope.

Every day Pastor Mark Ham encounters people who have a false understanding of Christianity. Many church goers mistakenly believe that they have always been a Christian, simply because they were born that way or because they were raised in a Christian home. True Christians often have doubts about their salvation because of something that happens in their life that causes them to question whether their encounter with Christ was real. The key difference between the two is the personal encounter with Christ and how you responded to Him. In this lesson, Pastor Mark explores 13 causes of doubt about salvation and explains how to nail down where you stand with God.

When David fell into adultery with Bathsheba and had her husband killed, why did God allow him to live, let alone remain King of Israel? One simple answer: mercy. Mercy, by definition, is not getting something we deserve and is too often confused with leniency.

John 5 tells us the story of how Jesus healed the crippled man at the pool of Bethesda. Before doing so, he asks the man, “do you wish to get well?” What an odd question to ask a man who hasn’t walked in 38 years! To us, the answer would be obvious. Yet, when we ask ourselves that very question, most of us, in spite of our obvious handicaps and sins, say no. We too often associate wellness with our physical state. Christ knew, however what kind of healing the man needed. Pastor Mark delivers a powerful message on being made well.

Most polls and census figures show that a majority of America still professes to be Christian, yet when you look at the lives of those same people and ask them what they believe, their actions and beliefs show little to no evidence of Christ in their lives. Most are even church members! So how do you tell when someone is a true Christian? How can you be sure of your own salvation? In one of his all-time best messages, Pastor Mark lays out the evidences of a truly saved believer.
